We are environmental stewards

Arkay has achieved CarbonNeutral^® status and is working with Natural Capital Partners, a world-leading provider of carbon reduction solutions, offsetting our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in accordance with The CarbonNeutral® Protocol, the global standard for carbon neutral certification. In our continuing effort to contribute to the fight against global warming, Arkay installed a white roof on our facility in Roanoke, which aids in the reduction of energy consumption, and our entire facility uses only LED lighting. We Have Award-Winning Standards

Arkay is honored to have attained BRCGS certification. With its high standards for safety, packaging materials, storage, and distribution, BRCGS provides a benchmark for manufacturing practice, assuring customers that their products are safe, legal, and of high quality. Arkay appreciates this acknowledgement of our value, ethics, and expertise. Arkay has also achieved Gold Recognition certification from EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, intelligence, and collaborative performance improvement tools for global supply chains.

We Use Sustainably Sourced Materials

At the crossroad of innovation and excellence, Arkay continues our strong commitment to fostering an ecologically aware culture, while utilizing environmentally friendly products to dramatically reduce our impact on the environment. Two of the products Arkay utilizes are Monadnock Kona® – made with a blend of fiber from reclaimed coffee bean bags and Forest Stewardship Council™ certified post-consumer waste – and Monadnock Astrolite, which offers a Forest Stewardship Council Certified (FSC® C018866) paper that is designed and crafted to effectively meet the luxury marketplace need for environmentally friendly folding cartons. Well regarded for our environmental and CSR compliance, Arkay is proud of our allegiance to furthering sustainability in all it manufactures.

We Employ End of Life Recycling

Paperboard: Arkay understands the importance of using high quality paperboard for our packaging products, while simultaneously seeking the most sustainable options available. Arkay uses FSC® Certified paperboard products for our packaging – other sustainable options chosen for various types of paperboard used at Arkay are CarbonNeutral®, Chlorine Free, ISO 14001 Certified, post-consumer recycled material content, biodegradable paperboard and coatings, and renewable hemp fibers. The majority of our paperboard products are recyclable at most local recycling facilities, the only exception being products treated with polyethylene (LDPE).

Foil: The foils used at Arkay can be recycled with the package at most local recycling facilities, assuming all other components of the package are recyclable. Foil can be removed by standard processes at most recycling facilities with no remaining residue. The foil used at Arkay also does not interfere with the biodegradation process in landfills.

Inks and Dyes: The inks and dyes used at Arkay do not interfere with the recyclability of our packaging and are easily removed with standard de-inking processes at most local recycling facilities.

Plastic Windowing: Any plastic windowing used in our packaging must be separated and removed from the paperboard package prior to recycling. The plastic windowing material should be thrown away, while the paperboard package can be recycled at most local recycling facilities.
